YOUR NYC HALLOWEEN GUIDE 3.0
Hallow’s Eve in the Big Apple
October has arrived, along with the excitement of Halloween. As kids, the fall holiday meant trick-or-treating, sugar rushes, and the magic of becoming whoever we wanted- if only for a day. As adults, we still get to wear costumes, but we may have traded in candy for cocktails and trick-or-treating for nighttime stories. New York celebrates the holiday with something for everyone, from kid-friendly spectacles to adult-themed parties. So whether you’re in the city with your entire family or gearing up for a night out with friends, there’s something for everyone to celebrate. Here’s our line-up for the best Halloween happenings, no matter your age.
For The Entire Family
For a fun-filled evening, take the family to the Annual Village Halloween Parade, hailed as one of the most iconic celebrations in the world. This isn’t for those who don’t do crowds, but if you’re willing to handle the masses, you’ll be treated to a spooky spectacle of over 50,000 costumed participants and a larger-than-life menagerie of intricate, giant puppets. According to The New York Times, "the Halloween Parade is the best entertainment the people of this City ever give the people of this City." Even better, many of the avenue storefronts open their doors for the kids to stop by to trick-or-treat. The Parade runs up 6th Ave. from Spring to 16th Street on October 31st from 7:00 pm -11:00 pm.
For Those Seeking Serious Scares
I Can't See
For an experience outside of the ordinary and NOT for the faint of heart, I Can’t See is unlike your typical haunted house. An immersive horror theater experience from Timothy Haskell and Paul Smithyman, original members of Psycho Clan, the experience immerses users in complete darkness and challenges them to become characters in their own horror story. We repeat, this is NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART. It’s been hailed by Time Out as “one of the scariest experiences unlike anything you’ve ever had,” and quite frankly, we don’t have the guts to go. But, if you’re a horror freak and braver than us, than you can check out this sensory assault from September 25th through November 3rd at 133 Greenwich Street, Manhattan.
For Those Seeking Pure Fun
Conveniently located close to ROW nyc, The Monster Ball at Stage 48 is the grown-up version of trick-or-treating, complete with costumes, cocktails, and cash prizes. Glam decor and epic people watching ensures that this very adult halloween is an epically-good time. Even better, the event is a ticketed affair, so there’s no need to stress about strict doorman and getting past any ropes. Once inside, guests will enjoy a costume contest with cash prizes, renowned djs and performances, an immense 50,000 square-foot layout with access to four floors, multiple dance floors, expansive bars, high soaring ceilings, and an onsite photographer to capture the evening’s mischief and mayhem.
